Wanna...

So Nia's new favorite word is "wanna". Everyday it's "I don't wanna..." or "I wanna...". She will also use "I don't want it/to" or "I want this/that". Also, everything that was one merely objects in her world have suddenly become interesting to her. Everything she sees is "Daddy, what is this/that?" She is very proud of herself when she can later tell YOU what something is.

Speaking of telling, her "stories" have become even more elaborate. They now include props and increasingly expressive hand gestures and facial expressions, even climbing up on the coffee table to put herself center stage...

Nia...The First 7 Months Book

Last year we made a book when Nia was 7 months, I was looking at it today marveling how much she's changed. So here's a nice throwback collage of Nia's first 7 months.

Where Did We Get This One?

So after dinner, we gave Nia the option of Cookies & Milk or carrots, and she chose CARROTS! Not that we are upset by this, quite the contrary. But coming from parents with massive sweet tooth's it is surprising.

It's Time For Your Sentencing

Seemingly out of nowhere, even though she's been using words more and more, she now says things in full sentences. Things like "Sit down here Mommy", "We go outside now?", or my personal favorite "Cookie? Milk? And dunk? Yayyyy!!!"

Yesterday she was sitting on her bed, and gathered her baby dolls and stuffed animals and said "Time for nite-nite babies" and tucked them in and preceded to "read" them stories. When she reads stories to you, she likes to hold the books like they do in story time and show you the pages. We have been building Nia a small reading nook. We got her a book shelf she can easily grab books from and put them back in. Looking at a little couch she can sit on, don't want one of those "Dora The Explora" ones. She also loves being under the covers like a tent, so were going to make her nook into a sort of tent using the see through hanging tent from IKEA.

Figuring out the best way to put "NIA" on the bottom as well...

The Shower Cap

Up until recently, Nia was never a fan of the shower, she would go near it, but never in it. then all of a sudden, she started putting on Mommy's shower cap and standing int he shower. Now she seems to like wearing it everywhere in the house. Now that she's potty training, she for some reason likes to wear it to do her thing...

For some reason, she doesn't like using HER little potty, she only wants to use the big girl toilet like we do. Whatever works I guess.

Ma, Mama, Mommy

A bit ago Nia had graduated from Mama and Dada to Mommy and Daddy. It's pretty cool, just saying.

She now likes to dunk her cookies in milk as well. If you give her a cookie without a cup of milk, she will look at you and go "Daddy where the milk?" And when she's done with the milk, she says "Some more Daddy?". I always ask her "more milk" because I love hearing her say "Yes please!".
